i am a studio jeweler living in santa cruz, california. i was born in virginia, i grew up in new jersey- and i randomly picked san francisco as a place to live years ago when i was living in d.c. and it was time to move. after a bit more meandering (nova scotia, india, and hawaii), and questioning (should i be an actress, activist, or midwife?) i found myself on this magnificent coast, gratefully pursuing art.
i am continually delighted by jewelry as an art form because of its intimacy and portability. it has the potential to cover great distances, following one life in the web of humanity, and express in a very personal way. doing this work also allows me to become a child everyday. the level of focus with each object can be so deep that time stops and the rest of the world falls away. i hope that the pieces i make can inspire that experience for others- wake them up to their own creative power.
the story of these forms is not one to be told with words. i'm never quite sure where they come from, and they are often a surprise to me, up until the moment they are complete. they are physical objects to be touched, felt, and worn. if they were to communicate a message it might be that we are all connected and whole- even in the midst of our greatest chaos and confusion. it is funny and sad that many of us forget this, and yet we are walking miracles in a miraculous world.
thank you for visiting, i hope you see something that reminds you of your own miraculousness.
